As June starts, we are almost halfway through 2017 and if you have survived the first half of the year, Here are the Most Anticipated upcoming movies from the remaining of 2017. So Mark your calendars guys and sit back and enjoy!

20. Justice League

Yes, We are starting with a Superhero Movie. Well it is the time to be alive for a comic movie Nerd, as their Geeky dreams come true in the recent years. With the Avengers also lining up for the upcoming Infinity War, How could DC be far behind Marvel. Releasing 16th November  the movie either could be the Last Straw for DC Fans or a revival of a sinking Ship. With the help of Joss Whedon, this movie might as well Redeem the DC Movie verse.
We also have Wonder Woman releasing this week with good Critic Reviews till now.

Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets is a Science Fiction adventure Film Directed by Visionary writer/Director Luc Besson( Lucy and the Fifth Element). It is based on the Graphic Novel series which inspires millions of writers, animators, directors and which might as well be the birth of Sci-Fi space war movies. Although with a talented Director off the screen. The lack of famous names on the screen might diminish the movie gross. But this has a making of an Epic Science Fiction Saga. Releasing: 21st July

With a high chance of us finally getting Planet Hulk Thor Ragnarok has a chance to redeem Thor Movies which sort of went Downhill in the second installment. With a great trailer which released last month. It looks it might as well be redeemable . Releasing  : November 3.

 16. The Beguiled

This is in a way cheating as the movie will release this month and we are talking about movie releasing after June. But as the movie will take time to roll out and will be releasing here in July. So i am sorta right.

Sofia Cappola’s latest is a Period piece set During the Civil war and stars Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning and Kristen Dunst. With an exceptional Cast and brilliant Director, there is no doubt this movie is going to be excellent. To top it all Sofia Cappola Won the best Director award for The Beguiled in Cannes Film Festival this week. Releasing : June 30

At a girls’ school in Virginia during the Civil War, where the young women have been sheltered from the outside world, a wounded Union soldier is taken in. Soon, the house is taken over with sexual tension, rivalries, and an unexpected turn of events.

15. Detroit

Starring John Boyega, Anthony Mackie and Kaitlyn Dever Kathryn Bigelow has directed this movie and with Mark Boal again writing a script for her movie this might be another remarkable movie. While Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker was about Military and terrorism, this movie sets closer to home than others. The story is centered around The Algiers Motel Incident, which occurred in Detroit, Michigan on July 25, 1967, during the racially charged 12th Street Riot. It involves the death of three black men and the brutal beatings of nine other people: seven black men and two white women. A Brave attempt indeed. Releasing :  August 4.

A movie about Grief and loss directed and written by David Lowery stars Casey Affleck and Sonia Acevedo. With positive Critic response at Sundance Film Festival, this indie movie might haunt our memory for time to come. Releasing : July 7

A24 Movies have a string of Indie movies rolling out this year which have serious potential. This movie belong to that list. With a synopsis of just one line we do not know much about the actual plot but the trailer looks excellent . Woodshock stars Kristen Dunst who is on a path of Destruction. Kirsten Dunst described this as the most challenging part she has ever done, even more than her parts in Melancholia and Fargo.

Yes another one from A24, The killing of A Sacred Deer stars Nicole Kidman, Colin farrell and Alicia Silverstone. A psychological Thriller of its kind , this movie was released in Cannes Film Festival last week and won the award for best Screenplay award. This irish movie is one to look out for Thriller Fans .Colin Farrell admittedly felt nauseous after reading the script for the film. Releasing :  November 3.

10. Spider-man: Homecoming

Ever since it was announced that Marvel had bought(more like shared) the rights from Sony, there has been excitement in the air of how Marvel would pan out the Comc-verse’s most beloved and famous character. Tom Holland’s appearance in last Year’s Civil War satisfied Critics and Movie goers alike. So this movie undoubtedly is among this year’s most awaited Movie. We just can’s wait for Peter Parker to be back in his high school struggling to balance out being the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man and a  Teenager with high school stuff…

Based on Stephen King’s epic Science Fiction-Dark Fantasy Series, the Dark Tower Stars Mathew McConaughhey, Idris Elba and Kathryn Winnick. According to an introduction by Stephen King in one of his books, “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” along with the “Lord of the Rings” book series, is the primary influence for his book series: “The Dark Tower”. In September 2016, Entertainment Weekly reported that following the release of the film, a TV series set within the same continuity is scheduled to be released in 2018. For all Stephen King Fans this is a time to Rejoice and Idris Elba to take part in a much awaited kick ass role. Releasing : August 4.

If You take La La Land and combine it with Fast and Furious, you will get Baby Driver. This peculiar movie has a very strange premise and an incredibly cool Trailer. Directed By Edgar Wright, With unbelievably over the top action the movie stars Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Eiza Gonzalez and Ansel Elgort. All the action in the movie is timed with music.

Plot follows a talented, young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.~Big Talk Productions

7. Cloverfield Movie(Earlier Called God Particle)

With incredible Secrecy 10 Cloverfield Lane was unveiled last year and it took the world by storm with its thrills and incredible performance from John goodman. With the Viral Campaign, a voice clip from International Space Station was heard which started rumours of a space movie under The Cloverfield Franchisee. This was cemented later when a spot was fixed in 2017 for release of a movie called God Particle. But a few months later this movie was also trashed and Cloverfield Movie replaced it instead with a release date in 2017 Fall.

A team of astronauts aboard a space station find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must fight for survival following their horrible discovery(link). This was an independent Sci-Fi movie, but now there are speculations around that it might as well be connected to the Cloverfield universe. Only time will tell us more, so all we can do is  wait..

The third installment of the rebooted Planet of the apes Franchisee will  see apes and humans go into a gruesome war with epic sized battles and incredible visual effects. Andi Serkis’s Ceaser was brought to a Shakespearean peak at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2013) which received critical acclaim and earned quite a lot across  the world. This movie undoubtedly has the potential to break records and to top it all we have an equally threatening and entertaining Antagonist as Woody Harrelson. Releasing : July 14

5. It (It: Part 1 – The Losers’ Club)

It is a movie based on Stephen King’s 1986 Novel of the same name(heralded as one of the scariest of all time).

On March 28, 2017, New Line Studio released a trailer to Promote IT. The trailer reached 197 million views in its first 24 hours, setting a new record as trailer with most views in one Day. The New York Times(link) and Wired both spoke highly of the trailer . While the creepy tone of the trailer can scare the hell out of anyone. Stephen King’s infamous character Pennywise shows up for just a few seconds in the trailer and it is intense and gripping. If the movie is anything like the trailer this very well might be one  of the scariest movie of recent times. Releasing : September 8

4. Star Wars : The Last Jedi (Episode VIII)

With the success of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens,  Disney will not look back .  As The Force Awakens introduced  new characters in the form of Rey, Kylo Ren,  Poe Dameron and Finn, Last Jedi continues this by introducing more new characters and Extending the epic saga further.

While we are not only curious to know who the last Jedi is, this episode will also be the last one starring late Carrie Fisher and would be an emotional farewell to Princess Leia.

With a string of Sequels Pixar has not done anything original since The Good Dinosaur and Inside out . Coco has an original story-line, it takes place in Mexico where Miguel who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his Idol finds himself  in the Land of the Dead.
This is Pixar’s first animated  musical, directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo) and Adrian Molina.

2. Dunkirk

Widely awaited War movie from the visionary Christopher Nolan ( Inception, Dark Knight, Interstellar, Memento), Dunkirk stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Surprisingly teenage heartthrob-pop star Harry Styles.

Nolan wrote the script with the intention to tell it from three perspectives : The Air, land and Sea. He hired real American World War 2 planes and shot them using IMAX 65 mm cameras to get the realistic feeling that he needed.By the tradition, Christopher Nolan decided to use the real naval destroyers instead of CGI for sea battle sequences in this film.

Dunkirk,a Project of insane magnitude tells the story of  real life event that happened on the beach of Dunkirk, where Allied soldiers were stranded and rescued from.

Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.

 1.Blade Runner 2049

Blade Runner (Directed by Ridley Scott) changed Sci-Fi Cinema as we know of. Not only was this movie ground breaking, it is an example of how to make a neo-noir Scifi movie for every Film Student. Blade Runner 2049 is the sequel of Blade Runner

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. The movie is Directed by Denis Villeneuve ( Arrival, Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners)   and stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford (who is reprising his role as Rick Deckard), Mackenzie Davis, Ana De Armas, Robin Wright and Jared Leto .

The 13 times academy award nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins has worked on the movie and it looks like straight from a Dream. A Visual masterpiece is to be expected from the trailer and only time will tell if the sequel will be able to hold up against the Original in terms of Philosophical aspects or not.
